It’s been over 20 years since physical therapist Debbie Landau chose her expertise in women’s health and pelvic floor issues. Since then, she’s continued to be powerfully motivated by the transformations she can help produce in her clients’ lives.
As a physical therapist for 5 Point Physical Therapy, Debbie works with clients who are perplexed about why their bodies hurt. Through manual therapy, therapeutic exercise and patient education, she eliminates the pain, while imparting to her clients a greater understanding of their bodies. “I help my patients reclaim their lives, and it’s incredible to be a part of that,” she says.
Debbie began her career in health policy—it was an important part of her evolution and the first step to understanding her own deep-seated calling. While earning a master’s degree in physical therapy from the University of Miami, she honed her interest in pelvic floor issues with a clinical internship in Chicago. After completing her master’s, Debbie moved to New York to re-dedicate her career to pelvic floor issues and women’s health. She helped grow a women’s health program (devoted to prenatal health, postpartum and pelvic floor pain) at a prominent physical therapy practice and then founded her own practice. She joined 5 Point in 2011 in NYC for several years… then took a break from commuting into NYC and joined the Atlantic Health System in NJ to be close to home and is now back with 5 Point in our satellite office in Millburn!
Debbie earned a bachelor’s degree in government from Cornell University and continues her education with courses in manual therapy, orthopedic therapy and women’s health. She is also a member of the American Physical Therapy Association’s Orthopedic and Women’s Heath divisions, the International Pelvic Pain Society and the National Vulvodynia Association.
